Round the Island Race History
Round the Island Race is organized by the Island Sailing Club which was founded in 1895. The race has been held now for over 68 years. This year the round the island race is sponsored by JP Morgan Fleming. First sailed in 1931, the race still competes for the Gold Roman Bowl. Over 1500 yachts from maxi's to the smallest offshore categories, from speedy multihulls to sedate old-timers. The event has Admirals Cup yachts competing alongside families that are just out to have fun; the race is a multitude of races within a race.
This will be the third year that Swan Yacht Charter has entered her yachts into the round the island race. Due to the success and demand of the last RTIR events we strongly advise you to book well in advance if you hope to sail round the island on one of our Swans.
Remember the Round the Island Race RTIR and Swan Yacht Charter invite sailors of all abilities from experts to complete novices. The event is not only the largest race in the UK Yachting Calendar but also a fantastic one to be part of.
